Join us for an open house Thursday March 12, 2026 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Residents and businesses are invited to attend the Highway 5 Improvements Open House at the City Council Chambers (201 S Vine St, Waconia, MN). The project team will share important details regarding the upcoming construction of this project and will be available to answer any questions. There will not be a formal presentation, and attendees are welcome to arrive at any point during the event.
The City of Waconia is reconstructing Highway 5 between Olive Street / Highway 284 and Main Street in 2027. This project will address both safety and mobility issues by adding dedicated turn lanes, eliminating conflict points, and completing the extension of the trail system along Highway 5. The proposed project is the final phase since reconstruction began in 2012. It will complete the reconstruction and urbanization of Highway 5 throughout the City of Waconia, one of the fastest growing cities in the fastest growing county in Minnesota.
