Safari Island Community Center has served as the community’s hub for wellness, fitness, aquatics, sports, and various community activities for the last 25 years. As we reflect on this amenity and the recreation services provided here and throughout the community, the City Council is looking to the next 25 years and beyond as it relates to city facilities and services.
To help make decisions regarding the current and future demands of the community around recreation, fitness, and wellness, the city has commissioned a Community Needs Assessment with the help of Sports Facilities Companies, who are the management partner of the City for Safari Island and the Ice Arena. This assessment will give us a detailed understanding of the demographics of our service area, service levels related to facility-based recreation, identify gaps and demands in recreation and wellness needs of the community.
Part of this analysis is the desire and opportunity to gather community input via an online survey. The survey will be carried out from December 1st through December 21 by visiting https://engage.sportsfacilities.com/city-waconia-community-needs-assessment
